Notaries have been around since the time of Hammurabi, king of Babylon (c. 1810-1750 B.C.).  Beginning July 1, 2018, a new state law allows many functions of a notary public to be conducted on line.  Notaries who are approved must adhere to standards set by the state to verify identity & credentials to ensure security on line notarizations & secure electronic records.
