Home Rehabs: STILL MANY HAPPY RETURNS

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

What to do with your money in economic times like this - investing in your home still pays off.
From 2007-2008 prices of homes declined 7% nationally, BUT only 3.96% in remodeling projects.
Even with times like this, home owners can still get a 67.3% return of their investment in 30
different home improvement projects. A few hot cities can get 100%.
Replacement projects that boost curb appeal do well - siding, windows & decks. Kitchen redos,
either minor or major are good investments.
Texas has an average of COST RECOUPED on 30 projects is in the 70’s to 80’s%. Some categories
are broken down, such as siding: fiber cement, vinyl, wood.

to get more details & the direction to take.
Then if you need or want to sell the property, you will usually have less picking from a buyer &
that is why they will pay more, which again helps cover the recouping cost of your home & projects.

TYLER’S NEW HOME MARKET STAYS STEADY ………….

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

& the new home industry is a major contributor to the local economy & pumps money into it long
after a house is built. Even with the problems in home-lending mkts & downturn in new home sales
& prices in some areas, the Tyler new home mkt is steady. Prices NOT SPIKED or POOR LENDING PRACTICES have kept the market on course with 883 homes built in 2007. AVERAGE
price is $208,408. Building foots taxes, development, etc. If East Texas represented the whole country, there would be few problems. All this according to Elliott Eisenberg, Senior economist for the National Association of Home Builders speaking in Tyler October 21, 2008. Copies of the study can be obtained at
