Builders started 8,855 houses in the 3rd ,quarter, compared to 12,000 for the same period last year. Most are in the $200,000 range and under, which is surprising as these are the ones generally selling rather well. Although there are a number in this price range for sale. Average sale price of homes in Smith County is $173,095 for 2007 & actually a bit higher in 2006 – $173,820. From Washington average prices are down with an 8.2 month supply at the current sales rate. TEXAS has a 3% rise in home sale prices from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University.
